Equal Opportunities & Cultural Awareness

ABM Landscaping have been working with Ngalla Maya to provide employment to Indigenous Western Australians, thus increasing their opportunities in the workforce.

“Ngalla Maya is a not for profit Aboriginal corporation who mentor, support and provide training to the Indigenous community to assist them in gaining employment. We are federally funded and have been in operation for five years.

Ngalla Maya would like to offer our full support to ABM Landscaping. We have been working with ABM Landscaping by developing our relationship to provide cultural awareness and support to employed candidates. ABM Landscaping understands the cultural support required to provide employment retention and a safe space for our candidates to learn and grow in.

We support ABM Landscaping in providing 10% Aboriginal recruitment and employment retention on their projects. ABM Landscaping has already employed some of our candidates who are eager to work and are enjoying their employment. Employing these candidates breaks the cycle of poverty and criminal behaviour within the Aboriginal community. ABM Landscaping encourages our candidates to grow and upskill in various roles which may be of interest to the individual.

We are strongly supportive of ABM Landscaping’s approach to provide employment and business opportunities to the people in our community. This in turn offers important opportunities for the economic development of the Noongar people and organisations who support these people.

To increase the opportunities of potential employers supporting the Aboriginal people, we are continually building relationships and understandings of our community by reducing the barriers they face on a daily basis within the workplace. We look forward to the continued development of our relationship with ABM Landscaping and to working with them in the future.”

– Ngalla Maya General Manager, Kylie Cooke.
